This is pretty much what I had to pay to learn from a games art diploma but yours is way better presented and written.

Thanks, glad you like it, yeah I did a games art diploma but I was to advanced for the course, but I must admit I learnt a lot more in university as I'm doing a game art degree now ^^;

Adv. 3D Text. Tut. - o.k. so you suggest just a simple height map in xNormal because it's greyscale, right? Basically, you can use Photoshop to exaggerate, or 'wash over' any details that you'd like to change? Just tryng to make sure I understand :p.

well that's what i suggest, I tend to go for the hight map, but you can do a normal map from xnormal, or do both and see that looks better.

I had someone else recommend Xnormal last night. I have it, just been having troubles with 3DS Max crashing soon after I UVW map a model. It's a real pain.

I can crash anything with a computer chip, even a calculator it seems. Talent or curse... I'm not sure...
